“Agriculture, Women’s Playing Field!”: Another successful bilingual edition released
Ottawa, March 24, 2021 – Alliance des femmes de la francophonie canadienne (AFFC) is proud to present the second bilingual edition of its webzine PrésentEs! entitled “Agriculture, Women’s Playing Field!”.
Although they are a minority in this field, women play a crucial role in the life of farms even if it has not always been recognized. In recent years, their place in the agricultural world has evolved from 27.4% in 2011 to 28.7% in 2016, they are key players in the agricultural landscape.
AFFC has chosen to highlight the accomplishments of Francophone women working in agriculture. The showcasing of programs exclusively for women in agriculture as well as the future perspectives presented in this edition will serve as a resource for women working in the agricultural sector in communities across Canada.
In addition to recognizing the historical contribution of women pioneers, various portraits of women who share their daily lives are painted. Through them, their pride, difficulties and challenges associated with being a francophone woman in a male-dominated field are expressed. However, they can fully develop in their work while speaking their language.
“Women have always been present in the field of agriculture, but they have not been recognized for their true value. This edition by and for women is a sign of their pride in working to feed our communities. We need these women, they are the ones who contribute to the development and advancement of our society,” says Lily Crist, AFFC President.
AFFC webzine is now available, you can access it by clicking here! We hope you enjoy reading this first bilingual edition of the year 2021.
This project was funded by Farm Credit Canada.
